Welcome to our Blue Springs martial arts academy – Crown City Athletics! We are a competitive, family-friendly avenue for many types of martial arts and physical training. From day one, students train with elite coaches dedicated to helping them grow on and off the mat. You can come in and boost your self-esteem, find a community in a sports-like environment, and blow off steam while becoming healthier and stronger. We also teach our kids’ martial arts classes with anti-bullying tools and strategies. We pride ourselves on being a professional, passionate, and dedicated martial arts academy in Blue Springs. Our goal is to help students consistently improve in their skills, techniques, and mental health on and off the mat. Instructors are dedicated to perfecting the student experience, including personalizing training for each person who walks through the door. From Jiu-Jitsu and Wrestling, to Boxing, Kickboxing, and all of the benefits MMA training has to offer, our expert coaches offer personalized training for every athlete. And that’s not all! We also host in-house competitions, exclusive seminars, and appearances from internationally renowned instructors. With a meticulously designed facility and a welcoming and experienced staff, we can offer anything you need. Join us and begin your martial arts journey at Crown City Athletics!
History
Our 2025 opening is spearheaded by the partnership of Hunter Jenkins, and John O’Brien. Hunter and John have trained together extensively, even cornering each other in numerous MMA bouts. Hunter and John were inspired to give back to the Kansas City and Blue Springs communities by instilling the values and skills gained through the sport. This has led them to establishing a Blue Springs martial arts academy – Crown City Athletics. The two are united in their vision to deliver premier professional training and a thriving community atmosphere. Our community is truly important to us. That inspired our name “Crown City”, derived from Kansas City’s nickname ‘Crown City’, symbolizing ambition, excellence, and leadership. As our martial arts academy grows, we will continue to strive to be the best spot for physical fitness training and martial arts classes.

Starting with our name, we are entrenched in the Kansas City and Blue Springs martial arts community. We are not only building a premier training experience, but a culture that supports all skill levels, backgrounds, and personalities.
Our three head coaches are some of the most seasoned instructors around. With diverse backgrounds, including professional bouts, few can demonstrate the fundamentals quite like them.
One of our greatest benefits for our students is our anti-bullying strategies. We teach students the tools necessary to disavow bullying in their lives.
Not only do we provide Blue Springs martial arts classes, but we have physical /massage therapists renting out an office in our building or personal trainers for weightlifting, but not classes. We go beyond physical training, offering saunas, cold plunges, and massage therapists to help your body heal and thrive.
Our martial arts academy provides a state-of-the-art facility to train in. You can come in with top of the line equipment (sauna, cold plunges, massage therapists), expertise around every corner, and a welcoming and warm environment.
We understand that every athlete’s journey is different. That’s why our coaches take the time to personalize training to fit your goals — whether it’s competition, self-defense, fitness, or confidence. At Crown City Athletics, your success has a plan behind it.
